![]() ![]() It is an effective, useful card for minor purchases and must be used wisely, without exceeding the prepaid limit. Like credit and debit cards, the Vanilla Visa gift card has its limitations as well. The card cannot be used outside the United States. You cannot transfer remaining balance from one card to another. It also cannot be used for recurring bills. The card cannot be used at ATM machines. Some cards may have a monthly service fee deduction. There is an initial activation fee associated with each denomination. If you fail to do so, your card may not be accepted, and you will not be able to make a purchase. While swiping the card, please select the ‘Credit’ option and not the ‘Debit’ option. However, some retailers might ask you to wait for 24 hours. Mostly, you can start using your card immediately after activation.A PIN is not required to use this card however, if you need one, you can go to their website and click on ‘Manage PIN’, through which, you can select a 4-digit PIN of your choice. In spite of these glitches, a gift card is very convenient and easy to use for online shopping, according to reviews.Another issue that users come across is that if you have less money on the card, your order will not be processed, since some amount is added as shipping charges. After this, you can make your purchase and payment.Enter the name, address, ZIP code, and other information, and confirm the same with the site. For this, you need to first register your card with the site. This is because a regular credit card has a valid, registered address associated with it, while a gift card does not. One of these errors is that the card does not get authenticated. If you select these cards as your payment mode, you may encounter certain transaction errors. Also, it works similar to a debit card or MasterCard credit card, therefore you need to follow the same procedure as you would normally do for online shopping.Since it is a prepaid card, you know exactly how much you can buy even at online stores. However, it is widely used for online shopping as well. All you need to do is swipe it and push the credit key on the keypad. The card is normally used for gift purchases at different stores and shopping outlets. The Vanilla Visa gift card works like a charm on Amazon however. At least not for me, I tried it and even that failed to assist in "verifying" the card, as far as eBay is concerned. Going online to register the cards does not remedy the situation. It appears as though eBay has made a de facto decision to no longer process payments via Vanilla Visa gift cards. They of course work at most stores, including Costco and gas stations ( go inside to avoid $75 holding fee which could happen if you forget and just swipe it at the pump).ĮBay rejects Vanilla Visa gift cards now, although I used to have a half dozen lined up under my eBay accounts. and I use them to pay my electricity bill and garbage bill. PayPal does NOT accept Vanilla Visa gift cards to register as a payment method for your PayPal account.Ĭurrently Vanilla Visa gift cards have processed successfully for me on Etsy, even for a number of international purchases (Canada, Spain, France), and I think PayPal processes the Etsy funding source, so that's doable there, so why not here on eBay also? If you prefer to shield your personal bank account and it's cards, and you want to buy online, well you can't spend cash online, can you? You load the cash onto a Vanilla Visa gift card and the funds become available in 15 minutes or less, usually immediately, rarely 45 minutes later. I mean the items I look at go up and down in price and it's rarer stuff. Now I'm probably not going to be able to get what I wanted from Ebay. I don't know when it became such a headache for them that they decided to block them. Probably around 10 years if I had to guess. It's just a hassle for them but these cards have been working for years on this platform. I understand why because people can misuse them and get their money back and maybe not ship things back and so on. Not cool that Ebay and Paypal now blocks these cards since I'm sure I'm not the only person to have used these cards on this platform. I was told by another Visa employee that I had to call the number on the back of my card and report it as missing. The guy on the phone seemed pretty nice and it was the phone number on the back of the card. I will keep people informed on this topic if I receive the check in 3 weeks. ![]() Out 6 dollars from the cards activation fee now and i have to wait approximately 3 weeks for a check from Visa.
